Guide to the 28th Honkaku Shochu Awards

1.Purpose
With an insight into the quality of the otsu variety of Shochu and from a nationwide perspective, we aim to gain an insight into current manufacturing technology and brewing trends as well as contributing toward reference for manufacturers.

2. Exhibit
(1) The applicable standard for the alcoholic beverages exhibited, as a general rule, shall be that they be actual products sold on the market. There is no limit for the number of exhibits.

(2) Exhibit fee and deposit

[A] The exhibit fee is 5,250 yen per item (including commodity tax). When you exhibit more than 2 items, a 1,050 yen charge (including commodity tax) is applicable to each additional item.

[B] Transfer of exhibit fee
Please pay through postal transfer.

[C] Due date
May 20 (Fri.), 2005 [the same date as the due delivery date for the exhibit]
(3) Exhibits shall include the following 3 bottles per single item.
[A] For display
1 bottle of product with make-up label pasted on

[B] For examination
A bottle of the product identical to [A], with water added to 20% alcoholic content.

[C] For analysis
One bottle of the product, which is identical to [A].

Note: The size of a container shall be approximately 720ml (Yongobin).

(4) Please fill in the separate sheet 1 "Exhibit stub" and separate sheet 2 "Attached sheet", then split "Attached sheet" and paste it on each container accoriding to (3), and attach "Exhibit stub" to the bottle for examination with a rubber band.
Also, please fill in the necessary information on the separate sheet 3 "Exhibit list", place it in an envelope, and deliver it along with the alcoholic beverage exhibits.

Also, on the box of the alcoholic beverage exhibit, Please write in red, "Alcoholic Beverage Exhibit for Honkaku Shochu Awards".
Any shipping charges incurred for the delivery shall be paid by the shipping party.

(6) Delivery time limit
By 5pm on May 20 (Fri.), 2005

Note: Please make sure that your exhibits arrive on a weekday.

3. Examination

(1) Date and location of examination

- From 10am on June 3 (Fri.), 2005

(2) Jury
The staff of NRIB, officials of the National Tax Agency and Regional taxation bureaux, academic experts as well as persons selected by the executive director of NRIB among concerned manufacturers and salespeople.
(3) Method of examination
A sensory examination is conducted by means of a Profile Act.

(4) Notification of examination results
Each exhibitor shall be informed of the examination results.

4. Open Alcoholic Beverages Tasting

(1) Date and time
From 9:30am to noon on June 24 (Fri.), 2005

5. Others
In the case of any cancellation of exhibit for your own reasons after the payment of deposit, the balance of the exhibition charge transferred will be repaid, subject to a deduction required for a handling charge.
